Omar to discuss issues of LoC trade with centre | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, June 1: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said he would approach the Centre to discuss various issues concerning trade across the Line of Control (LoC). "I will take up issues of creating banking relations and communication facilities between traders on both sides," Omar told a delegation of cross-LoC traders during an Open House meeting here today. To avoid ambiguity about the trading of various commodities across the border, he said he would stress on the freezing of the current commodity list for at least a year to identify items of business. "These aspects are essentially required to allow trade to flourish and give it a concrete edifice," Omar said. The Chief Minister said he would also convene a high level meeting of all concerned officials and ministers to look into other issues pertaining to cross LoC trade. Hundreds of delegations and individuals called on the Chief Minister at his private office during the 'Open House' which has become quite popular among the masses. During his interaction, Omar said his government flags health sector as one of the most important concerns. "Its expansion and consolidation to provide modern healthcare facilities universally in the State is our priority," he said. Several labour unions also called on the Chief Minister who informed them that the Government had formulated a mechanism for regularisation of ad hoc employees and the strategy in this regard was being finalized. |
