Amarnath pilgrims availing helicopter service have to pay less | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Jun 2 : The yatris availing the helicopter service for undertaking the pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas will have to pay lesser fare this time.
The annual pilgrimage will start from June 29 from both traditional Pahalgam and shortest Baltal routes.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the SASB R K Goel said helicopter service would be pressed into service to facilitate the pilgrims from Pahalgam to Panjtarni on the traditional route.
He said the pilgrims will have to pay Rs 3,450 as fare charges while during last year the fare was Rs 3,800.
He directed Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag who is also Yatra Officer to keep a strict vigil on the rates fixed on all the halting stations, particularly at Panjtarni.
It has been decided that the SASB would earmark and release a daily quota of 180 helicopter seats to the four recognised Travel and Tour Operators, two each from the Kashmir and Jammu Divisions.
Thus, 45 seats shall be allocated to each of the four travel and tour operators from Jammu and Kashmir. Of the daily quota of 180 helicopter seats, 140 would be for the Baltal-Panchtarni route and 40 for the Pahalgam-Panchtarni sector.
