Govt mulling to implement NABH suggestion | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, JUNE 2 - To bring further improvement and transparency in the functioning of state hospitals, the Government is seriously considering to implement the recommendations of the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare (NABH). The NABH, which was assigned the job of studying the functioning of various hospitals by the government, has suggested numerous measures to improve the functioning after identifying the loopholes. This was stated by the Minister for Medical Education, Mr. R. S. Chib and Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma at a high level meeting of officers and NABH Members, held here today. Expressing unanimity on the suggestions put forth by the NABH to improve the healthcare in various hospitals, the Ministers acknowledged that the agency has conducted an exhaustive study and identified the gaps and government will seriously consider the valuable suggestion and implement them. They issued instructions to the head of the institutions to maintain close coordination with the NABH officials and work out the modalities to give practical shape to the suggestions. Mr. Sham Lal Sharma while appreciating the good work of the NABH said that the agency has identified the weaker areas and government would seriously implement its recommendations on ground to bring efficiency in the functioning of government hospital. He stressed maintaining professional ethics. He said that government was keen to promote healthcare facilities in the state as majority of patients are treated in government institutions. During the past two years, various steps have been taken to upgrade the existing infrastructure. He stressed on optimum use of available resources, adding that missionary zeal is must to improve the delivery system on ground in the medical profession.
