Four PoK guests among 24 cross sides in Kashmir | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR,June 2 : Four guests from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here, while seven Kashmiris crossed over to the other side of the Line of Control (LoC) at Kaman Post, the last Indian military post, in Uri sector, about 120 km from here this afternoon. As many as 13 returnees also crossed sides, official sources told UNI this afternoon. They said four PoK guests, including two women, arrived at Kaman Post after crossing the Amen Setu Bridge on foot this afternoon. Sources said two Kashmiris, who had gone to PoK, also returned to their homes after completing their stay with relatives across the border, which included a woman, they said. Seven from Kashmir, including a woman and a child, crossed over to other side to meet their relatives. Eleven PoK residents, including four women and a child, who were here also returned to their homes. The weekly bus service, started on April 7, 2005 despite threat by militants to target it, has so far helped thousands of families divided in 1947 to meet each other. However, only residents of the Jammu and Kashmir, having relatives on either side could visit each other on permits instead of international passports. However, the permits had to get clearance from both India and Pakistan governments. |
