| Seven feared dead in snow stromin Doda | | | Jammu, Nov 22 Seven people who went missing enroute Anantnag during last week were feared dead following reports of snow storm in upper reaches of Doda district near Siddhani top area, about 85 kms from Chatroo. According to reports, on November 16 a group of nomads along with cattle headed towards Anantnag but their journey was halted mid way as bad weather conditions forced them to return home on November 19. According to reports reaching here, at least nine people returned home safely on November 19 but seven among them were struck in the snow storm and since then were reported missing. Senior Superintendent of Police,Doda Manohar Singh when contacted said that, " they have also received reports that a group of 16 people were undertaking trek to Anantnag via Siddhani top but due to bad weather conditions seven couldnot return home and were reportedly struck in the snow storm. He said Doda police had rushed rescue teams along with a group of villagers to locate the missing nomads but have not received any news about them.He said since the area had witnessed heavy snowfall during the last 48 hours rescue mission had to come back empty handed. He said 8-10 feet of snow fall has been reported in the area and the same has been hampering rescue mission.According to these reports six missing persons have been identified.They are AbdulRehman Hazam,Ghulam Hassan Hazam,Mohd Rafiq,Mohd Rasool, Gulab Din, Mohd Ramzan. |
