SDM awakens public about biodiversity conservation | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT DUDU BASANTGARH, June 1: An invigorating awareness camp was organized at Govt. High School Katwalt, a hilly terrain which falls in-between the hill covers of Dudu and Basantgarh, by Ministry of Environment & Forest, Government of India under ‘National Environment Awareness Campaign 2011’ in which lot of emphasis was laid on Conservation of Biodiversity, especially forest cover in entire Dudu Basantgarh. Sub Divisional Magistrate Amit Sharma, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, was the primarily driving force behind successful organization and launch of this campaign at Katwalt who has adopted a missionary approach in spearheading the holistic vision of pushing peace and green mission along with biodiversity conservation in Dudu Basantgarh. A series of programmes were organized in this Awareness Camp including Green Rally, Painting Competition, Debate Competition, Cultural Presentations, including display of pamphlets, poems and songs regarding conservation of forest cover and entire biodiversity across the length and breadth of Sub Division in which around 35 schools belonging to this area participated. SDM Amit Sharma, in his address, gave a very thought provoking presentation of facts relating to fall-outs of environmental degradation, forest fires, tree felling, deforestation, water and air pollution and cautioned the public, especially the students and younger lot residing in these belts to rise upto the occasion and take a firm initiative towards Biodiversity Conservation. Finally, the Chief Guest Amit Sharma also distributed prizes amongst the winners of Painting Competition. He also honoured the newly elected Sarpances on the occasion and complemented the role of Kuldeep Kumar and Manmohan Singh who were the main organizers of this successful awareness camp.
