| Poyen Cricket Kargil team lifts Police Trophy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KARGIL, June 3:
New Era Cricket Club Poyen clinched Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Cricket Trophy 2011 defeating Friends Cricket Club Drass by 8 runs in the final match of the tournament held at Khree Sultan Choo Sports Stadium Kargil today.
The tournament was organized by District Police Kargil to pay homage to late constable Zulfiqar Ali of Kargil district who lost his life while performing duty in 2008 at Maisuma Srinagar.
DIG Kashmir Range Abdul Gani Mir was the Chief Guest at the final match and distributed prizes and trophies among the winner and runner up team. He also distributed Cricket kits among various Cricket teams of the district.
This Cricket tournament was the first of its kind in Kargil district and 56 cricket teams from all over the district took part in the tournament which commenced from May 5. Poyen team scored 162 runs in 20 overs. While chasing the target Friends Club Drass scored only 154 runs and Poyen team won the match by 8 runs and lifted the Trophy.
Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil Haji Ghulam Amir, MLA Zanskar Feroz Ahmad Khan, Deputy Commissioner Kargil M. Rajive, Councillors, Civil and Army Officers and hundreds of people were present to witness the final match.
