Shabir asks for coordination to overcome power crisis | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, JUNE 03-Minister of State for Power, Shabir Ahmed Khan today reviewed power scenario in Jammu division particularly in border districts of Rajouri, Poonch and Samba at a high level meeting of Power Development Department and Power Development Corporation functionaries. The meeting was attended by Vice Chairman of Kissan Welfare Board, Rashpal Singh, Vice Chairman of SC Welfare Board, s Swaran Lata, MLC, Ravinder Sharma, Chief Engineer S&O, Ajay Gupta, Chief Engineer M&RE, s Shenaz Goni, SEs, A K Puri, Anil Gupta, Ravi Kapoor, B B Sen and Manmohan Singh and Executive Engineers of STD Jammu, M&RE Jammu, M&RE Rajouri and STD Kalakote and other senior engineers and officers were also present. Shabir impressed upon the engineers and officers of concerned department to prioritize completion of various development works being executed in such areas so that the people do not fee alienated. He said that it is the endeavour of the coalition government to make all essential services easily available to the people of the state especially those living in rural and border areas. In this regard, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah led government has initiated several steps which are quite visible as the achievements are being registered at all levels. A deputation from Samba and Vijaypur also met the Minister and putforth various problems particularly power shortage. They also demanded replacement of old electric wire, irrigation facilities and provide extra connections of electricity and pump sets for rabi season. The Minister directed the concerned PDD officers and engineers to examine the power scenario and maintain close coordination to overcome the power crisis.
