| Work on 1050 flats going apace in Jammu | | Govt land near Nagrota being identified for migrant’s tenements: Prem Sagar | |
Jammu, Nov 22 Decision to identify state land for construction of two room tenements for Kashmiri migrants near; Nagrota has already been taken at a recently held meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, said Minister of State for Finance, Law, Revenue and Planning Mr. Prem Sagar Aziz while addressing public meetings at Purkhoo and Mishriwala migrant camps last evening. District Development Commissioner Jammu Mr. Hirdesh Kumar Singh, Relief Commissioner Jammu Mr. Kumwar Mohinder Singh were present. Mr. Aziz said that Government is fully aware of their problems and taking keen interest to redress these at the earliest. He said work on 480 two room tenements are in progress and likely to be completed before the end of current fiscal year. He gave on the spot instructions for necessary addition and alternation in the bed room and Kitchen of each set as demanded by the migrants. He also directed Relief Commissioner to initiate process of transfer of ration cards of the migrants at the nearest ration depots of their present location. In all 5200 flats have been proposed to be constructed to accommodate migrants present putting up in various camps in and around Jammu. Of these work on 1050 flats is going on and the Government land near Nagrota is being identified to construct the remaining flats to accommodate Mishriwala and Battal Balian migrant campers. Of the allocated funds of Rs. 1.20 crore, Rs. 1.14 crore has been released for early completion of the on going construction works. Responding to other demands like adding 11th and 12th class in the Purkhoo Camp High School, Bifurcation of families, special package for unemployed educated youth, delivery of standard weight LPG cylinders, deployment of migrant engineers for speedy construction of migrant quarters in double shift. Reorganization of Relief organization, repair and renovation of Lanes, Drains in Mishriwala, Mr. Aziz asked the Deputy Commissioner Jammu and Relief commissioner for immediately necessary action in the matters in their competence and rest will be taken up at the appropriate forum for early redressal Mr. Chuni Lal Bhat, Mr. Moti Lal Koul, Hira Lal, Mr. Chuni Lal Pandita and other prominent migrant leaders at both the camps spoke on the occasions. A large number of Kashmiri migrants at Purkhoo and Mishriwala camps including women folk attended the meeting. |
