“Bharo rang,” a state level painting competition on Gharana wetland, starts | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 3: To spread more awareness regarding the Gharana wetland and to take up the issue among the students community for healthy discussion and awareness, an initiative has been taken in the form of painting competition . Bharo Rang, a painting competition on Gharana birds commenced on June 3 from National Public High School, Miran Sahib and a series of such competitions would be organised in different schools of the state in the coming days. More than 70 children participated in this competition. Children have shown keen interest in this initiative which is basically focused on to conserve the degrading Gharana wetland. Meantime photo exhibition on Gharana birds has been also organised in which 500 students witnessed and got knowledge about migratory birds. All the Pictures displayed here have been clicked by Guldev Raj, a renowned photo journalist. On this occasion Principal Sushma Sharma, Sarpanch Kishore Kumar, Punch Triloki Nath Pandita, Social Worker Subedar Baba Ram were presented there . They appealed to government to protect this birds land. In the coming days, this painting competition which is based on Gharana wetland will be taken to 150 schools of Jammu province in three phase manner. These competitions are being organized by Bharat Pratibha Vikas Mandal and The Udaan organization with the help of others NGOs and educational Institutions. Finally the winners shall be awarded on wetland day falling on Feb, 2 2011. Except this more than 100 painting of Gharana birds done by students shall be displayed in state level painting exhibition on Gharana Birds.
