International Conference at SMVDU | Guv calls for making technologies simple | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KATRA, June 3: The Governor, N N Vohra, today called upon the scientists and researchers to make the new technologies simple and affordable, to secure optimal benefits from the tremendous advancements made in the realm of communication technology in the recent years. He added that such an approach is all the more important for the developing countries where the effective application of appropriate communication and other related technologies can make a crucial difference in the quality of governance and efficient and timely delivery of services to the people. Governor, as Chief Guest, was addressing after inaugurating the 3-day International Conference on “Communication Systems and Network Technologies (CSNT-2011)”, at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) here today. This Conference has been organized by the School of Electronics and Communications Engineering of the SMVDU in collaboration with the MIR Labs. This is the first ever Conference on such an important subject, held in the State which has been sponsored by the Microsoft, IEEE and the DRDO, Ministry of Defence. The Governor observed that the past about decade and a half has witnessed a revolution in the growth of communication network technologies, adding that the availability of mobile phones has provided real time connectivity to the far-flung areas in the country, thereby facilitating speedy socio-economic development. Referring to the theme of the Conference, the Governor exuded confidence that this scientific event of great significance, which has brought together researchers, practitioners and educators in the field of Computational Intelligence and Network Technology on a single platform, would facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experiences, fresh approaches and new ideas. Governor congratulated the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof R N K Bamezai, and the School of Electronics and Communications Engineering, for organizing CSNT-2011 and wished fruitful discussions to all the participants. Speaking on the occasion, Prof G S Tomar, Director, Malwa Institute of Technology and Management, Gwalior, gave details of the current advancements made in the field of communication technologies as well as scope for its continuous growth. He said that SMVDU has the required infrastructure of international standard and this was the reason that it was chosen as the venue for hosting such a big event.
