Mr Bhim, What about Jammu Dogras?
Agenda 2011

EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, June 3: Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) Bhim Singh is one Dogra who is known in India as well as abroad. He has connections at right places in Delhi and elsewhere in the country as well as in several countries of the world, especially the Muslim world. He can meet the President and Prime Minister of India anytime. He has been in public life since decades and he is always on the move. He has many agendas. He has an agenda for Jammu; he has an agenda for Pakistan-occupied-Jammu and Kashmir; he has an agenda for Kashmiri separatists; he has an agenda for India and he has agendas for the countries like Egypt, Libya, Iraq, and for other countries in the Middle East. In fact, he has in his political box agendas and agendas. Besides, he is a votary of smaller states and has close connections with those fighting for smaller states, including those fighting for the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and creation of separate Telengana state.
Bhim Singh yesterday, along with votaries of separate Telengana state, addressed a press conference in Delhi and declared that the Telengana state is written on the walls of Andhra Pradesh. In other words, he declared that the formation of Telengana state is round the corner. He was right. Telengana region would become a full-fledged state in the near future. Why because the leaders of the region, irrespective of their political affiliations, are committed to the Telengana cause. They suffered in the past for the cause and they are prepared to face the official wrath in the future as well for the cause. Besides, the Telengana leadership is not fickle-minded; it has been consistent as far as its stand on the issue of empowerment of Telengana is concerned.
The manner in which the JKNPP chairman shared the views of the votaries of Telengana state did suggest that he is committed to contributing to the cause of the agitating people in the Telengana region. Nothing wrong. The deprived people of Telengana region must get what they legitimately deserve and all right thinking people must support their cause.
But what about the grossly neglected Dogras of Jammu province, also called Duggar Pradesh? Is the JKNPP chairman committed to achieving what he promised to achieve from time to time for the Dogras? Is his approach consistent? Has he done anything concrete to achieve what he promised to achieve with much fanfare on January 8-9, 2011? (He had promised to achieve for the Dogras separate Chief Minister, separate Assembly, separate Public Service Commission and what not.) Unfortunately, the answers could not be in the affirmative.
He may be clear-hearted, but he is always inconsistent. He says one thing in Jammu, another in Kashmir and yet another in New Delhi. He holds a promise one day and forgets it completely the very next day. He wants to work for the Dogras and, at the same time, wants to win over the Kashmiri separatists who are vehemently opposed to the idea of the Dogras obtaining what is their legitimate due. He wants to achieve the unachievable. How could he think in terms of a solution that is acceptable to the patriotic Dogras and Kashmiri separatists and extremists? Both cannot co-exist and it is a hard fact.
The JKNPP chairman cannot go on like this. If he really wants to serve the marginalized Dogras, he has no other option but to stick to Agenda 2011. He is a good organizer and he has the ability and capacity to work. His only problem is lack of commitment and inconsistency. One can only hope and pray that he would imitate the Telengana leadership and adopt a single-point agenda: Reorganization of the state on regional lines. He has already wasted many years and he has now reached a stage that demands single-minded devotion to the cause that inspired him to found the JKNPP years ago.
