Sikh organisations object pre-dated | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 4: Several Sikh organizations called on Divisional Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Jammu and vehemently regretted that the notice issued by Assistant Commissioner Revenue regarding filing of objections for the Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee by the Sikh voters till June 8 is pre-dated and gross violation of fair election norms right from the initial step. The draft lists have been received on June 4 in Jammu city. Where as far-flung areas of the district are not aware of it. The publication of back dated notice doesn't full fill the provision of law and deprive of the opportunity to a large number of Sikh voters to exercise their franchise. A large number of Sikhs, who are engaged in transport and other business, are far away from their homes; similarly many families are away to hill/ other stations during hot summer. Therefore reasonable adequate time for ensuring availability of draft voter lists and wide publicity is pre-requisite of fair elections. The delegation comprised of Mohinder Singh president Akali Dal (B), J S Mangal Akali Dal (M), Suchwant Singh spokesperson Akali Dal(B), Gurdev Singh Secy Akali Dal(M), Dalip Singh President DGPC, Attar Singh Cashier, Manjeet Singh Secy, Harbhajan Singh Member, Ranjit Singh member, Master Avtar Singh member, |
