| State registers 20% increase in tax revenue: Rather | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, JUNE 04 –The Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather today called for coordinated efforts to watch the state’s revenue interests and enjoined upon the officers of Commercial Taxes (CTs) department to effect maximum possible revenue realization by effectively curbing tax evasions. “All the Commercial Taxes Officers (CTOs) should make individual as well as collective efforts to increase tax revenue, without un-necessary harassment to anyone and ensure regular follow up to audit assessments and inspections”, Mr. Rather said while speaking at a performance review meeting of Commercial Taxes department, Kashmir Division held today at Banquet Hall Srinagar. Mr. Rather said that strict follow up to audit assessments and inspections was essential to assert authority of the department adding that any laxity in this connection would be reflected in the Annual Performance Reports (APRs) of the concerned officers CTOs. The Commissioner/Secretary, Finance Mr. Suhanshu Panday, Commissioner, Commercial Taxes, Mr. G. A. Pir, Special Secretary, Finance, R. K. Koul, Additional Commissioner, Commercial Taxes Department, Kashmir Division, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad, Deputy Commissioner, Commercial Taxes Administration (HQ) Mr. Showkat Ahmad, DC, C. T., (Appeals), D.C. Audit, D.C. Vigilance and Inspections, Additional Commissioner, Tax Planning and concerned CTOs of various C.T. circles of Kashmir Division attended the meeting. While appreciating performance of the department on account of revenue realization, which has increased from Rs 223124.44 lakhs in 2009- 2010 to over Rs 267499.55 lakhs in 2010- 2011 in the state, Mr. Rather urged for further improving the overall performance of the department adding that there should be no complacency in this regard.
