| Aspirants clash with police, 3 policemen among 10 injured | | Unprecedented rush at army recruitment rally | |
Jammu, Nov 22 At least ten persons, including three police personnel, were injured when the aspirants for recruitment in Army clashed with police near Akhnoor today. The 5-day Army recruitment has attracted a large number of candidates from across the Jammu district. Sources told News Agency of Kashmir that an unprecedented rush of candidates appeared at the recruitment venue creating lot of difficulty for police and army to control them. While the candidates tried to forcibly enter into the police had to resort to cane charging to control the situation. This, sources said, led to a clash between the candidates and the police in which seven candidates and three policemen were injured. Later, the candidates blocked the Akhnoor Poonch National Highway to lodge their protest. Shouting slogans against the police, the aspirants alleged that the police personnel resorted to lathicharge without any reason. “If the authorities can not control such number of aspirants it should not hold such recruitment rally”, said Kamal Kishore, one of the injured aspirants. The injured aspirants were reportedly shifted to Akhnoor hospital, where most of them were discharged after first aid. |
