Expulsion decision will cost party heavily: Chaman
6/4/2011 11:48:10 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, June 4: Prof Chaman Lal Gupta today said the expulsion decision taken by the BJP high command against him shall 'cost party dearly' both at the state level and national level too in terms of strengthening the organization in what he said a national movement against the anti national elements and the moves to weaken it. Gupta arrived in Jammu today along with five others MLAs of his camp after over a week's stay in the summer capital.
" I have always stated and say it now vehemently that my expulsion from the party is not as simple as it looks like having been terminated for some blunder………there is more beyond it and the conspiracy theory only got vindicated by such sudden move", Prof Gupta said after arriving from Srinagar. The decision of expelling me has wider connotations as it is a blow not only to the person who has been 'architect' of the party but to the mission of keeping up the flag of national movement and making it much stronger in the backdrop of vitiated political environment in the J&K state, he said.
Substantiating his point in a clear manner, Prof Gupta alleged since it has been the agenda and mission of the BJP to spread nationalist movement across the state , the successive governments have always tried to scuttle and sabotage it. "It is strange and unfortunate for the party that some insiders and our own colleagues are supporting the government and rival parties in their efforts", Prof Gupta said adding that it was in this context the party is in for huge damage and loss at many levels in times to come. Even though he made it clear that this group led by him for now would not take any action against the four MLAs as announced earlier for their 'dissident activities', the matter being sub judice , he along with other MLAs would continue with their political activities and the ideology of primarily working towards integration of state with nation and maintaining unity parity of all the regions of the state.
Prof Gupta was expelled two days back by the Parliamentary Board for what the latter termed as his anti party activities in continuing to conducting himself as leader of the Legislative Party despite having been suspended from the party for 'involvement' in cross voting matter.
Upon reaching Jammu, the group was received by supporters outside the Jammu airport who raised slogans in favour of Prof Gupta. The latter has expressed gratitude to the supporters for their overwhelming support and said despite controversies, the support exhibited by the workers has been 'unprecedented'.
