| MCC trounces ZCC by 25 runs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | JULY 29 Monty Cricket Club defeated Zorawar Cricket Club by 25 runs quite convincingly in the ongoing Independence Cup Cricket Tournament being played at Sarore here today. MCC won the toss and decided to bat first. They accumulated 165/8 in the stipulated 20 overs. Robin was the top scorer with 59 runs who played a fine knock. He struck 6 hits to the fence and two mighty shots for six over long on. Tilak and Som also contributed useful 38 and 33 runs respectively. Vijay also chipped in with 30 runs in quick time as well. For ZCC, Aman bowled exceptionally well to scalp 4 wickets while Karan and Pawan sclap 2 wickets a piece. In reply, ZCC was bundled out for 140 runs in 19.1 overs. Vikram was the top scorer with 60 runs who played with some resilience but he lost his cool just when he looked to getting into his stride. Nasim and Raman also played well for their knocks of 25 and 22 runs respectively. MCC bowlers bowled with speed and sting especially Vijay who scalped 4 wickets by giving away just 38 runs in his quota of 5 overs. Kunal and Dheeraj were the other main wicket takers who snared 2 wickets each. Vijay was declared the Man of the Match.
