Mehbooba seeks cooperation of newly elected panchayat members to pursue pro-peace agenda

WUZAR SHAHBAD (DORU), Jun 5: Expressing her gratitude towards people of the state for giving over-whelming response to her party in the Panchayat elections, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti today asked Sarpanches and Panches of her party to work with dedication and sincerity to come up to the expectations of the people.
Addressing a function to felicitate newly elected Sarpanches and Panches of this area, Mehbooba Mufti said that outcome of Panchayat elections is clear indication that people of the state have put huge responsibility on PDP by giving overwhelming response to the party in these elections.
“While as party has swept Panchayat elections in entire Kashmir Valley, it has made inroads into new areas in Jammu,” she observed and added that people all over the country have been opting new regional parties be it in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu or Bihar. “PDP has emerged as premier political force in the state and it has become evident from the outcome of Panchayat elections”, she remarked.
She further said that PDP has already proved its ability through its performances during the tenure of PDP-Congress regime in the state. She pointed out that that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as Chief Minister of the state has set a standard of governance which the newly elected Panchayat members of the party have to maintain by serving the people with dedication and sincerity.
Calling upon all the newly elected Panchayat members to work for restoring peace and tranquility in the State, Mehbooba Mufti sought cooperation to take the pro-peace political agenda of the party to its logical end. “Since its formation PDP has been working to create an atmosphere of reconciliation and to restore sense of security and fearlessness among the people”, she said and observed that during the PDP-Congress regime in the State the situation was positively transformed in this region.
“Now the agenda of the PDP is to make this region as a peaceful state and to facilitate the process of the solution of Kashmir problem”, she said and added that making Jammu and Kashmir economically self reliant by proper utilizing its natural resources is also on the top of the party’s agenda.
She reiterated demand of her party to get rights on the water of the state so that natural resources can be utilize to Jammu and Kashmir economically self-reliant. Senior party leader Farooq Ahmed Andrabi also addressed newly elected Sarpanches and Panches.
