| Azad pays tributes to Lt. Gen. Bikram Singh | | |
Jammu, Nov 22 Holding sacrifice and excellent performance of Lt. Gen. Bikram Singh in highest esteem, Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the legacy of patriotism and valour of late General is the joint heritage of the country. He said Jammu and Kashmir is proud for the services rendered by Lt. Gen. Bikram Singh in the state. Paying rich tributes to Lt. Gen. Bikram Singh at a shardhanjali samaroh here today, Mr. Azad highlighted his extra-ordinary services rendered in various capacities in the army. Chief Minister said that Lt. Gen. Bikram Singh rendered laudable service in organizing and maintaining a sharnarthi camp in 1947 at Kurukshetra receiving country wide appreciation. Chief Minister also laid a flower wreath at the statue of Lt. Gen. Bikram Singh. The samaroh was organized by Lt. Gen. Bikram Singh Yadgar Committee at Bikram Chowk Jammu and was attended by family members of the Lt. General. Among others, Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma, legislators Mr. Ashok Sharma and Mr. Yogesh Sawhney, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation Ch. Manmohan Singh, corporators, army officers, police and civil administration besides political leaders and prominent citizens were present on the occasion. Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma and other speakers recalled the services of Lt. Gen. Bikram Singh rendered in Jammu and Kashmir. Daughter-in-law of Lt. Gen. Bikram Singh and other family members present on the occasion thanked Chief Minister for sparing precious time out of his busy schedule to attend the samaroh and reminding the people of the outstanding services of late General.
