Omar spends weekend in Kullu, holidaying with family | J&K govt denies, says 'CM was in Srinagar' | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 5: Contrary to news being fed to selected media, tech-savvy Chief Minister Omar Abdullah spent the weekend at his in-laws house in Kullu. Sources said that Omar boarded the special state aircraft from Srinagar and landed at Kullu-Manali airport located in Bhuntar area of Himachal Pradesh at around 1 PM on Saturday i.e. June 4, 2011. They added that Omar received a warm welcome from the administrative heads of Kullu district. He was presented a bouquet. Omar is on a private visit and there is nothing to write about it, said an official in Kullu. He added that Himachal government knew about Omar visit merely because of the security reasons. "We have to provide him special security since he is a VVIP. To ensure that, a tight security grid has been put in place to ensure his safety and security," added the official. Regarding Omar's stay in Kullu, the same official said "We are keeping his stay a complete secret due to security reasons. We cannot say for how long he will stay." Located on the banks of river Viyas, Sobagh village is birthplace of Omar's in-laws i.e parents of Payal Abdullah. Sources said that Omar was taken aback by the scenic beauty of his in-laws village in Himachal. His sons, Zahir and Zamir have reached Kullu a week back, confirmed the sources. Sources said that Omar is likely to spend this weekend with his two sons and wife Payal Abdullah. They asserted that Omar, despite his hectic schedule did not miss the opportunity to spend gala time with his family at Kulu. It needs to be mentioned here that a top leader had only yesterday regretted of having unnecessarily criticised Omar for rushing to Delhi on almost every Saturday since the day he was sworn in as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. Moreover, Omar had also claimed of having stopped the weekend trips to Delhi as far back as four months. Top Congress leader had repeatedly requested Omar to take note of media reports which suggest that he frequently visits Delhi to meet his family and asked him to avoid frequent 'leisure trips' outside the state. Immediately after this, Chief Minister had claimed of having hardly visited New Delhi in the last four months and most of the time his visits have been for official purposes. However, a state official when asked said "Omar is in very much in Srinagar. Whosoever is saying that he was in Kullu on Saturday is actually lying. Officials in Kullu contacted by you are making baseless statements. We would check back with them and see to it that they verify facts with us."
