Involve rural youth in CD activities: ADGP | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Jun 6: Outlining general draft policy for maximizing the initiatives of Civil Defence in disaster management, especially in the prevention of collateral damage during calamities, Additional Director General of Police, Home Guard, Civil Defence and Auxiliary Police J&K, Dr Ram Lubaya today stressed upon the need for educating and involving block and village level youth in civil defence activities. Dr. Lubaya, who was addressing a meeting of Civil Defence Wardens of Udhampur Unit, said that there was a need to involve rural youth in the programme and policies of the Civil Defence to minimize the impact of disasters, natural or man made, by imparting mandatory training to them in disaster management at village level besides familiarizing them with the importance of disaster management techniques. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, who is also Controller of Civil Defence Unit Udhampur, highlighted activities under taken by the civil defence to educate the general masses about diverse issues of pubic interest, disaster management and welfare programmes from time to time. He said for smooth conduct of Amar Nath yatra, as many as 40 CD volunteers would be kept at the disposal of SSP Udhampur.
