BJP terms eviction of Ramdev as barbaric, undemocratic | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 6: The country wide outrage against the police brutality on people sitting on dharna cum fast with Baba Ramdev has come as a blessing in disguise for the state unit of the BJP leaders. Ever since the party unit has been hit by allegations of cross voting and even led to the expulsion of one of the senior most party veterans on charges of anti party activities the party cadre was feeling low and less motivated to come on the streets.But the past one week of hectic activity in the run up to the fast against corruption and the issue of black money has helped the state party leaders to galvanise the support of the ground worker. On Monday the party leaders took out an impressive rally and staged protest demonstrations across various centres condemning police action against the people who were sitting on fast along with Baba Ram dev at Ramlila grounds in New Delhi. Expressing anguish over the incident which has shaken the conscious of almost every citizen of the country except Congressmen, Manhas termed the entire episode as barbarous, inhumane, undemocratic, anti-nationalistic and anti-poor. Pouring his heart, he mentioned the dreadful days of emergency and Jallianwala Bagh incident when General Dyre—a Britisher had mercilessly killed hundreds of patriotic people and comparing this recent episode of 21st century, Sonia Gandhi- Manohan Singh duo have acted as custodians of corrupt world and holders of black money rather than having any guts to punish the corrupt. Manhas also stated that BJP has always taken a stand against corruption, black-money and unprecedented price-rise keeping interests of the common people above board. Since the party has supported the cause undertaken by Baba Ram Dev and continued to support against the issues of corruption, black money and price rise, therefore, the party condemns this barbaric incident, he added. Extending full support to the historic campaign launched by Baba Ramdev, Manhas declared that the party activists, throughout the State have been directed to organize protest demonstrations over the issue.
