BJP protests irregular water, power supply
6/6/2011 9:13:03 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 6:
To register protest against irregular supply of water and electricity besides price rise, the BJP activists of Ward Number 50 and 51, led by District Secretary Priya Jral, held massive protest demonstration in Sector 3 of Channi in outskirts of Jammu city. The party activists were raising slogans-‘bijli do paani do, hai hai mehangayee’.
Priya Jral, while addressing the protesting activists, said that people in Jammu are being made to suffer in these days of scorching heat when the temperature has already crossed 42 degrees. In these days, there is need of regular supply of drinking water and electricity and unfortunately both these items are going beyond the reach of a common family. Yes, there is water and electricity in abundance. It is not for us but the VVIPs and their families, she alleged. She said although high claims of supplying round the clock electricity in metered wards are made from time to time by the department but on ground the situation is entirely different.
Priya Jral said that a common family is already facing problems due to rise in the prices of essential food items, no water and no electricty has added to their woes.
There is no one who has any concern for the survival of a common man. She appealed the PHE and PDD to take immediate and effective steps to ensure regular supply of these items. She expressed hope that the Congress-led UPA and NC-Congress coalition will work honestly to check price rise.
