The administration of MAM College has been shattered into pieces as the head of the institution has gone defunct since his retirement is due by the end of this month. The non- gazetted staff of the college is not taking and treating the acting Principal seriously. The Principal of the MAM College, who is at the verge of retirement is a simple man with simple approach and is not in a position to deal with otherwise tricky management of the College. The non teaching staff of the college is controlled by a Section Officer of the evening College who has been working here for the last few months in the morning college and has patronized the corrupt practices.
The official in the administration do not do the work of students, be it disbursement of the refundable security fee, disbursement of scholarships, issuance of degree certificates, attestation of documents including exam and re-evaluation forms. Network of clerks dictate the terms and demand petty amounts as “Nazrana” from the poor students in a range from Rs50 to 100, as stated by the aggrieved students.
Students even complained that they do not allow them to meet the principal to address their grievances to address their any grievances and harass them by restricting to meet the Principal on the pretext of official meetings going on inside the chamber of Principal and they have to keep on waiting for hour together. In order to get their jobs done they have to grease the hands of orderlies.
It is to mention here that, that when aggrieved students complained to the Early Times, our correspondent visited the college along with a student who was to get his refundable Hostel Security released. After completing all the legal formalities, they approached the principal to do the needful and were directed by him to get the check from the cashier, but the cashier squarely refused to comply with the orders of the Principal and dictated them come in the future. When requested repeatedly the concerned clerk got agitated and argued, misbehaved with the student.
When the student brought the matter into the notice of Principal, he once again insisted and impressed upon the clerk to do it today but the adamant clerk denied on the face of Principal, giving a clear-cut picture of the prevailing mismanagement and work culture in the college.
The clerk must be or must be anticipating graft through the daily wagers deputed with him. The students also stated that the corrupt Section Officer who has become the King pin of the morning college basically from the evening College, is diluting the atmosphere of the college.
As mentioned earlier the present Principal is at the verge of retirement, the government is required to appoint an effective Principal and Honest administrator in this college to check the illegal and corrupt practices flourishing in the college to save the poor students from unnecessary harassment at the clutches of clerks.
