J&K surrendered rights over Salal in 1985, says Gul | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Jun 6: Advisor to the Chief Minister Mubarak Gul in a statement issued here today said that Jammu and Kashmir’s rights over Salal Hydro Electric Project were surrendered in 1985. In a statement issued here today, Gul said that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who has been clamoring for rights of people and has been blaming National Conference for the trade-off of water resources needs to explain his conduct. He added that in 1985, state was ruled by Ghulam Mohammed Shah of Awami National Conference (ANC) and supported by Congress whose president was Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, he said. Gul said that while Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Sahib got a very good deal from the Union Government for Salal Project, benefits of deal were simply surrendered in 1985 with the active support of Mufti. “People of Kashmir have not forgotten midnight murder of democracy at hands of pliable Governor orchestered by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and his cohorts to ensure removal of Farooq Abdullah who at that point of time refused to bend before forces who wanted him to take certain decisions which National Conference felt were not in the best interest of the people of Jammu and Kashmir”, he said. |
