| Former corporators hails DCM’s announcement | | ULB elections | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 6:
Ex Mayor Narender Singh and former corporators Zaffar Javed Khan, Sanjay Mahey, and Balwant Kumar Ballu have welcomed the statement of Deputy Chief Minister regarding holding of Urban Local Bodies elections (ULBs).
However, they said the much hyped elections to the ULBs shall be meaningless until the government publishes correct and up-dated elected lists of which the government have failed to do so due to faulty system.
They added that the election authorities only wake-up when the elections, that are to be held, are announced and then they start compiling voter-lists in a haphazard manner which ultimately remains faulty and the voters are put to inconvenience.
They held that the authorities have failed to provide the voter I-card for which the people have filled in the forms,not once but a number of times and have also given their photo-graphs for which the concerned authorities are to reimburse them but all this exercise have ended in a force and the bonafide voters are still looking forward to receive this card which is still alluding them.
These corporators appealed to the state government as well as the concerned authorities to take-up this matter seriously if they are really keen to conduct these elections in free and fair manner and should expedite the process failing which it shall remain a far cry.
