PDP holds protest against eviction of Baba Ramdev | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 6: Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party held a strong demonstration at Bikram Chowk in protest against the arrest of Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, who was on a hunger strike at Ramlila Grounds at New Delhi protesting corruption. The protest was led by Vikram Singh, Girish Sharma, Pankaj Gupta and Sachin Sharma. PDP leader Vikram singh said that when the support poured in favour of Baba, unable to bear it, the Congress Government arrested him in an undemocratic way. It was very clear that they wanted to hide the corruption made by its allies. Girish Sharma said imposition of Section 144, lathicharge and tear-gassing of his followers would bring back memories of the Emergency. Pankaj Gupta wondered whether it was democracy and rule of law in India or it is a police state where action is taken on peaceful protesters at midnight without notice. He said the police action only showed the government was going out of the way to protect those who break laws and attack those who raise issues. Sachin Sharma said that UPA government with indulging in crushing the agitations of people, who were striving for the wellbeing of the people and the nation. He also demanded that the Union government explain the need for imposing prohibitory orders under Section 144 Cr PC at the fast camp of the Baba.
