Sham reviews Kheer Bhawani Mela arrangements

SRINAGAR, JUNE 06- Minister for Health, Horticulture & Floriculture, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma today conducted an extensive tour of Ganderbal district and took stock of progress of various development projects, including Government Unani College-cum-Hospital and District Hospital.
The Minister also inspected a horticulture department’s nursery-cum-orchard at Zakoora and heritage Mughal Garden Jaroka Park at Manasbal.
Expressing satisfaction over the pace of progress of both the health projects, the Minister asked the executing agencies to further speed up the pace and complete the projects within the stipulated time frame. He stressed on maintaining the quality of work strictly as per the required ratio and specification and making judicious use of land.
Managing Director, J&K Housing Board Mr. Daleep Thussu briefed the Minister about the status of Unani College complex. He informed that the work on Rs. 32 crore project is in full swing and its spade work has been completed. He maintained that the project is coming up over a land of over 78 kanals comprised building of College, Hospital and residential accommodation for doctors and para-medical staff and involving over 60000 sft. plinth area.
The officers of JKPCC informed the Minister that District Hospital project is coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 52.56 lakh and till date an amount of Rs. 7 crore has been spent. The project was started about an year ago and targeted completion period is 3 years, informed the engineers.
Later, the Minister also visited the Kheer Bhawani temple at Tulmula and reviewed the annual Mela arrangements. He interacted with the officers of district administration and obtained the feed-back of the arrangements. He directed the officers to ensure adequate quantity of essentials, medicines, drinking water, uninterrupted supply of electricity and other necessary articles for performing Puja. He also interacted with the pilgrims and officials of security agencies and enquired about the facilities available there.
The Minister also paid obeisance at the temple and prayed for the peace and prosperity of the people of the State.
District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal Mr. Showkat Ahmed Mir and officers of allied departments also accompanied the Minister.
