Panchayati Raj System would be further strengthened: Soz

JAMMU, June 6:
President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee and Member Parliament Prof Saifuddin Soz said today that the Panchayati Raj System would be further strengthened to enable Panchayats to solve problems of the people.
Addressing a rally of elected Sarpanchs and Panchs of District Kupwara today at Dak Bunglow Kupwara and gathering of Sarpanchs and Panchs of District Baramulla at Dak Bunglow Baramulla, Prof Soz was accompanied by Revenue Minister Raman Bhalla congratulated Sarpanchs and Panchs of both the District for the honour people had done them by electing them as their representatives.
Prof Soz further reminded the gatherings that it was late Rajiv Gandhi who had wanted to empower Panchyats and Municipalities, so that democracy became vibrant at the village levels also.
He also urged the Sarpanchs and Panchs to solve the people’s problems to the best of their ability. He took this occasion to remind the gatherings about his recent visit to Pakistan where Civil Societies in one voice condemned the wide-spread terrorism in Pakistan and their determination to fight it out. Prof Soz also told the gatherings that the civil societies of Pakistan have also shown their resolve to forge understanding and good neighbourly relation with India.
Raman Bhalla while speaking on these occasion congratulated Sarpanchs and panchs for their victory and told them that Congress Party was working transparently for unity of the state and recently held election to Panchayats had made the party more vibrant. He told the Sarpanchs and Panchs that they should raise people’s problems and help in the process of solving these problems. He assured that he would examine personally the cases of those who want to get relief under BPL category and ensure justice.
Those who also congratulated Sarpanchs and Panchs on this occasion included G R Kar, Gulam Nabi Monga, Shoiab Nabi Lone, Mohd Amin Khan, Mir Mushtaq, and Aftab Ahmad Beigh.
