Man shot dead in Lal Chowk | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, June 6: A policeman takes position next to the body of a man who was shot dead by an unidentified gunman near Pratap Park in Srinagar. Mohammad Afzal Khan, a middle aged man, was shot dead by an unidentified gunman near Pratap Park in Lal Chowk in broad day light on Monday. Afzal son of Samandar Khan of Nihalpora, Sopore, was shot in his head from a point blank range resulting in his on spot death. "We did not see who fired at the man as we thought it was a tyre burst," a shopkeeper told Kashmir Dispatch. Eyewitnesses said Afzal died on spot as he received a bullet in his head. "We haven't been able to identify the assailant, he was wearing a black shirt," a police official said. The assailant fired at Afzal, a provision store owner, from a pistol. "Initial investigation have revealed that he had come to Srinagar to collect a huge amount of money on account of a property deal," the official said. "Police is looking into all the angles of this crime, the criminal conspiracy including the alleged deal of selling the property," he added. |
