Change in separatists' mindset after breaking of Alqueda network in Pak | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 6: The recent statements of the separatist leaders appealing people to render all cooperation to tourists for a peaceful tourist Summer this year and also those to displaced Pandits to participate en-mass in this year's mela Kheerbawani on Jeshta Ashtami on June 9 shows a change of mind set among the separatists leadership in Valley following the smashing of Alqueada and Traliban network in Pakistan after the killing of mastermind of world terrorism Osama bin Laden last month. The Kashmiris are not surprised over the statement of Hurriyat hardliner Ali Shah Geelani who promises a good tourist Summer in Valley this year and assures all cooperation to the tourists visiting the trouble -torn Valley from rest of country and abroad just over a week after the killing of Osama bin Laden as they know that the Hurriyat hardliner is left with no alternative but to come on a negotiating table seeing the growing world opinion against the terrorism to whom the separatists had mortgaged the so called movement in Valley. Geelani's statement was followed by JKLF supreme Yasin Malik's statement who also made a similar call to the displaced Kashmiri Pandits asking them to participate en mass in Mela Kheer Bhawani this year as Kashmiri Muslims crave for welcoming them. It is the same Malik who and whose organization introduced the gun culture in Kashmir in 1989 and made the minority Pandits their soft target by making selective killings and forcing the community to flee from the Valley. The sudden shift in the stand of both Hurriyat hardliner and JKLF supreme has surprised the majority of Kashmiris in Valley whom the two organizations took to hostage for over 21 years and forced them to toe their line of action. The common Kashmiri who till this date is not aware about the rationale behind the separatists strategy to create a gulf between the minority Hindus and majority community in the Valley by forcing the former to migrate on gun point. They indulged in killing of minorities by making them selective targets in different parts of the Valley and the barbaric incidents of Wandhama, Chatisingpora, Nadimarg, Sangrampora and Telwani not only still haunt the Kashmiri Hindus but Muslims as well. Not only in Kashmir but militants also indulged in mass killings of minorities in various parts of Jammu region like Barshalla, Chapnari, Kulhand etc and no tears were shed by the separatists including Geelani or Malik. But now a sudden shift in their mind set reveals that both the separatist leaders have come to understand that they can no longer exploit the people on the name of so called Azadi or merger with Pakistan on the behest of terrorists who are fast losing their ground in Pakistan, said Javed Ahmed a social activist in Kulgam area of South Kashmir. Javed while making a dig on separatists said that people of Kashmir were never with them but it was only due to threat of terrorist that they had closed their eyes and were watching the killings of the innocent people and other atrocities committed by terrorists and their harborers as a mute spectators. Fearing worst the common Kashmiri could not muster courage to take on the terrorism who had a strong base in Pakistan, he said. People are now fed up with gun they want peace and progress of the state, said Liyaqat Ali of Kund Kulgam. ``It only depends on the Government that how it can tackle the situation and in case the Government is totally responsive to people needs and demands then surely it will win the battle against the terrorism and separatism'', he added. Liyaqat said that Kahsmiris in the heart of hearts were never withs separatism or Pakistan but it was only the misrule of successive governments that the disgruntled people fell into the trap of the elements inimical to national cause in Kashmir''. But still much water has not flown from river Jehlum and in case the Government gives a responsive administrative set up and dispensate justice it will be able to marginalize the separatists and terrorists. Abdul Rehman Wani a social activist from down town said the Geelani and Malik have understood the writing on the wall after the attack on Alqueada in Pakistan and breaking the back of terrorism. This has forced the separatists to change their strategy for the time being in Kashmir and they have started shedding the crocodile tears. |
