Power indispensable for progress, development: Rafi | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, JUNE 07- Public Undertaking Committee (PUC) of Legislative Assembly today sought official record from J&K State Power Development Corporation (JKSDPC) to examine ongoing and proposed projects including Baglihar Phase I and II. The Committee, which met here under the Chairmanship of Mr. Rafi Ahmad Mir also called for securing survey reports indicating available power potential in the state. The Committee discussed in detail audit paras pertaining to the Corporation. After threadbare examination, the Committee dropped the C.A.G’s audit paras for 2009-10. The Committee highlighted the need to speed up the execution of power projects in the state to ensure regular power supply to the consumers. Addressing the meeting, the Chairman said power being an essential requirement in the modern era needs to be given focused attention. He said power is indispensable for progress and development of the State. Legislators, Advocate Abdul Haq, Mr. Mohammad Yousuf Taing, Mr. Charanjit Singh, Mr. Kafil-ur-Rehman, Mr. Ashok Kumar and Mr. Irfan Ahmad Shah gave their valuable suggestions to settle the audit paras and bring further improvement in the power scenario. Among others, Commissioner/Secretary, Power Development Department Mr. Bhashrat Ahmad Dhar, Managing Director, JKSDPC Mr. Shaleen Kalera, senior officers from PDD, JKSDPC and concerned officers from Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
