Red Cross distributes aid among handicapped | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 7: The Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu today organised a programme at Red Cross Bhavan, Kachi Chawni to distribute aid among the handicapped. The programme was held under the directions of Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Pawan Kotwal, who is also chairman Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu. On the occasion, a Tricycle was presented to Muneer Ahmed student of Government Boys Higher Secondary School Gandhi Nagar while one wheel chair was provided to Anjali Devi daughter of Bodh Raj of Bari Brahmana. Honorary Secretary Regional Red Cross Jammu Anil K Padha presided over the function wherein the family members of the beneficiaries were also present. The Honorary Secretary also launched 8 days First Aid Training programme at Red Cross in which 23 students from various places are attending. Padha emphasized the need to undergo such training programme by the youth in particular to understand the First Aid Techniques for helping the victims during rescue operations. He also disclosed that during the month of May 2011 two blood donation camps supported by Red Cross organized at Govt Hospital Sarwal in collaboration with Youth Congress and other at Batote in association with Sant Nirankari Mission besides two Medical Aid Camps one at Haridya Deep Ashram, Jeewan Nagar Jammu and the other at Govt Girls Middle School New Plot Jammu in association with Rotary Club Gandhi Nagar Jammu. The general relief distribution during the month includes 13 Kitchen sets, 12 Family kits, 52 folding matters, 13 tents, 52 kids clothes, 05 blanket, 21 plastic sheets besides one time financial assistance to the tune of Rs 5000 each was sanctioned by Divisional Commissioner Jammu in favour of Aarti Gandotra, Swarana Devi and Nazir Ahmed being cancer patients.
