Empowerment of Panchayat was Rajiv’s dream: Madan Lal

Jammu, June 7: The empowerment of Panchayats and decentralization of power at grass root level was the dream of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
This was stated by Member of Parliament Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary constituency Madan Lal Sharma in a function organized by former MLA and senior Congress leader Shiv Dev Singh here in Jammu to felicitate newly elected Sarpanches and Panches of Dansaal block of Congress party.
Madan Lal Sharma, who was chief guest on the occasion, said that the coalition Govt in Jammu and Kashmir has made the dream of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi reality which will empower people and will address the development needs of far flung and rural areas of the state.
He termed that maximum participation of people of Jammu and Kashmir a landmark achievement and lauded people for making ongoing panchayat polls a grand success.
While felicitating the newly elected Sarpanches and Panches, MP hoped that the persons elected would prove their mettle to help in implementation of development and welfare schemes for the benefit of masses. He also announced to give newly elected Sarpanches 1 lacs from his Parliamentary Development Fund for development of their respective areas.
Former MLA Nagrata Shiv Dev Singh hailed the newly elected Sarpanches and Panches of Dansaal Block and said that coalition Govt has committed for overall development of the state particularly in rural areas and ongoing Panchayat polls is one such history step for the purpose. He asked the newly elected Sarpanches and Panches to work honestly and dedicatedly in their respective Panchayats and ensured possible development.
The Sarpanches of Dansaal who were felicitated included Ram Singh (Bomyal), Noor Mohd (Marh Darbi), Girdhari Lal (Parkalta), Krishan Singh (Chilla) Mohan Singh (Panthal), Bansi Lal Gupta (Krishanpur), Balbir Singh (Kothar), Mohan Lal (Korga), Balwan Singh (Dansaal), Madan Mohan Dubey (Jaggar Kotli), Mohd Sadiq (Nandani Sakaytar), Nichatar Singh (Tanukyari).
The Panches of various Panchayats of Dansaal block were also felicitated by the Madan lal Sharma.
Senior leaders of Congress and others were also present on the occasion.
