Khoda addresses police durbar at Sopore

SRINAGAR, JUNE 7: Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. Kuldeep Khoda has said that Jammu and Kashmir Police after facing tough challenges of militancy has succeeded in bringing peace in the State. He said that although the militancy graph has been brought to a low ebb but the force has to remain constant vigilant to face any emerging situation effectively.
Mr. Khoda was addressing Jawans and officers at a police durbar held at District Police Lines Sopore in North Kashmir today. He said that the brave jawans and officers of the force have faced many challenges and have come up to the expectation of the people. Saying that public service is the prime duty of Jammu and Kashmir Police, he reiterated that safety of human lives and public property has also remained on our priorities. The DGP said that with the active cooperation of the people, the force has succeeded in eradicating the menace of militancy and restoring peace in the State. Stressing for further improvement in professionalism, he said that while dealing with the militants it should be ensured that common people are put to least inconvenience.
Expressing his satisfaction over the peaceful conduct of panchayat elections, Mr. Khoda said that confidence in the minds of people has been restored and the State has witnessed a good turn out in these polls. He appreciated the jawans and officers for conducting the elections in a peaceful atmosphere.
Appreciating the role of jawans on anti-militancy front in North Kashmir, Mr. Khoda announced absorption of 11 SPOs in the Organization as Constables and Followers. These SPOs belonged to the districts of Bandipore, Kupwara and Sopore and have been absorbed in the department in recognition of their gallant role in saving the human lives and public properties while fighting the militants in various operations in North Kashmir, the DGP disclosed. He stressed upon the jawans to serve the people with more devotion and dedication.
During the durbar, the DGP accompanied by other senior officers including AIG (Personnel) PHQ gave a patient hearing to the jawans and on spot instructions were issued to solve their genuine problems. He said that the police personnel are always performing their duties in difficult situations and the Organization is fully aware about their problems. Many welfare schemes have been initiated by Police Headquarters to lessen the difficulties of our jawans.
