| Inter-Panchayat Sports Competition at Gahri concludes | | Dhanu lifts final trophy in Khabaddi | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, JUNE 07- Two day Inter-Panchayat Sports Competition held under the centrally sponsored scheme "Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan" (PYKKA) for boys and girls under the age group of 16 years concluded here today at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Gahri with the final Kabaddi match under 16 years played between Krimchi and Dhanu Panchayats.
In all 360 young sports persons, including boys and girls drawn from 21 Panchayats of Udhampur block participated in the event. The competitions were organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Udhampur.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. Rajinder Singh was the chief guest on the occasion, who distributed prizes to the winner and runner up teams and individual medals to the outstanding young sports persons of different events.
On the second day of the competition, in Under 16 Boys Khabaddi, Dhanu Panchayat defeated Krimchi Panchayat by 42-20 points. While in girls category Kawa Panchayat defeated Malhar Panchayat.
In Boys Kho-Kho Kotli Patta Panchayat clinches the final trophy by defeating Malhar Panchayat. Similarly under 16 years girls Kho-Kho Malhar Panchayat beat Kotli Patta.
In Volleyball Boys under 16 years, Tikri Panchayat beats Garnai Panchayat while in Girls section Malhar Panchayat beat Kotli Patta.
In Athletics Under 16 years Boys 100 mts, Pawan Kumar of Sial Jatta (Gold), Surinder Singh of Jib (Silver), Rahul Kumar of Upper Rehmbal (Bronze).
While in Long Jump, Anil Dev Jambal of Tikri (Gold), Riaz Ahmed of Battle (Silver), Naresh of Upper Rehmbal (Bronze).
Similarly in Shot Put, Bikram Singh of Dhanu Panchayat (Gold), Haish Singh of Tikri (Silver) and Sudesh Kumar of Sial jatta (Bronze).
Under 16 years Girls 100 mts, Mehak of Malhar Panchayat (Gold), Asia Banu of Lower Rehmbal (Silver) and Veena Rani of Kotli Patta (Bronze).
The programme was organized under the supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer, Udhampur, Mr. Bushan Sethi and over all supervision of DYSSO, Mr. S.R Kotwal. The matches were officiated by Mr. Sanjay Sharma, Mr. Rakesh Sawhney, Mr. Kuldeep Sharma, Mr. Som Raj Khajuria, Mr. Jaswinder Singh and Mr. Raj Kumar Gupta.
Among others, District Information Officer, Udhampur, Dr. Jagdish Mehra, Principal Higher Secondary School, Gahri, Mr. Babu Ram, Station House Officer Rehmbal, Mr. R. K Sharma, Sarpanches and Panches of different Panchayats of the block besides local people were present on the occasion.
