Malpractices in PG courses puts career of promising candidates in jeopardy | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 7: The busting of another racket by CBI in conducting the medical examinations to PG Courses in AIIMS and All India veterinary courses has revealed that the malpractices still exist in the entrance examinations to MBBS, PG medical as well as other technical courses in the country and nothing has changed after the sacking of former Medical Council of India (MCI) chief who was also found guilty of such malpractices earlier resulting in disbanded of entire MCI by the Government of India. This is not for the first time that the racket in medical courses or other technical courses including engineering were busted in India but has become a routine affair in this country of which we are taking the proud of being the largest democracy in the country. The mafia in post graduate entrance examinations has led to the frustration of many promising medicos who despite being excellent in studies could not find a seat in the merit list of the prestigious medical institutions of the country like AIMS. Unfortunately the Government which is supposed to deal such issues with a heavy hand to ensure that such malpractices do not take place in future and the prestige of AIIMS as a repute medical institute is maintained has always been caught napping over the issue. Though majority of accused involved in all such malpractices get scot free and axe falls over few who are made a scapegoat for all, no ONE cares for the real victims i. e the candidates who despite faring well in the examination fail to get selected due to malpractices by conductors of the examinations. The medical exams racket in AIIms has put the career of these promising medicos in jeopardy. Despite being good at studies the aspirants can't hope of getting selected for PG courses in this so called prestigious institute thanks to the authorities who have brought a shame to entire system in the country. The failure of Government to act on right time and set the things in order has led to deterioration of system in entire country. The students who had appeared for post graduate medical examination in AIIMS or veterinary post graduate courses this year and were not able to seek admission due to the malpractices conducted by the authorities crave for justice but under this deteriorating system they have no expectations to get the same. What is needed the Government in such cases should come to the rescue of these students by declaring the results null and void and calling for immediate reexaminations through any other autonomous body so that these candidates get justice and deserving people are selected as doctors instead of vagabonds who can play with the lives of the patients. It has been learnt that hefty amount is being sought from the candidates whose answer sheets are being manipulated. Such doctors after passing the degrees will fleece the patients to overcome the loss. The Government to provide justice to deserving and promising candidates should not lose a single moment in declaring both PG post graduate test as well as PG veterinary examinations as null and void or scrutinize all the papers through an independent agency so that the candidates who have been deliberately denied the admission can get the justice. This will also send a good signal throughout the country and the people as well as the students involved in such malpractices will refrain in future from such acts faring action by Government. |
