Dad dances better than Swaraj : Omar Celebration or mourning over Ramdev arrest…: Azad | Sushma target of 'male chauvinism'…? | | Early Times Report NEW DELHI, June 7 : Amid the clamour and din of Baba Ramdev crackdown that kept political parties engaged in the bickering against each other , the male politicians from non BJP hues got another one handy, this time something different to comment on, no matter in utterly bad taste- dance of Sushma Swaraj veteran woman politician of the country. From Digvijay Singh to Ghulam Nabi Azad and spokespersons like Janardan Dwidedi , Manish Tiwari in Congress to our own Chief Minister Omar Abdullah , all commented on her, the only difference being that Congress leaders stooped low to make sarcastic remarks and Omar did it in a lighter vein in his tweet. "My father is a better dancer than Sushma Swaraj……." . Omar Abdullah tweeted on Tuesday as the BJP leader's 'controversial' dance at the Rajghat continued to draw comments. Though the comment was in lighter vein, Omar Abdullah in fact took a dig at Sushma Swaraj who danced with her party colleagues at Raj Ghat. He tweeted that his father was a better dancer than her. "Having now seen the videos of (Sushma Swaraj) dancing, I have no doubt at all that my dad is a better dancer than Sushma Swaraj. Glad dance now acceptable protest," Omar tweeted at 3.25 PM on Tuesday. Omar's father, Farooq Abdullah, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy and an unconventional politician, is known to break into a jig once in a while at parties. He also sings a song or two in Urdu or Kashmiri. He doesn't mind dancing with celebrities in bollywood as well. It is pertinent to mention that three-time chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Farooq Abdullah was recently seen dancing on a Kashmiri folk song in a one minute video. The video was a hit as it garnered many viewers on social networking site Facebook. Swaraj, leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, who has been suddenly targeted by male politicians danced with her Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers at the 24-hour-long protest at the Raj Ghat on Sunday. Reacting later, she claimed this was to enthuse the workers with patriotic spirit and that she would continue to do it so long as the feeling and fervour of patriotism is there in the gesture."It is the tradition of our party that we sing patriotic songs during all our protests", she went on to explain while expressing shock at the comment and reactions. However, this triggered spark of anger among the Congress men who went on almost with hysteric comments and bashful reactions, mainly accusing her of hurting the sanctity of the place. Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari commented: "At the samadhi of the Father of the Nation, if you are going to dance, what kind of sanctity of the place are you maintaining?" In response, Swaraj tweeted: "This was around 2 in the (Sunday) morning. I stepped in for a brief moment to boost the morale of our party workers." "What kind of fast is this when the Leader of the Opposition is dancing along with her friends at Gandhi's Samadhi," Congress general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi had said in his reaction yesterday. Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari had said, "For simple reason at the samadhi of the Father of the Nation, if you are going to dance into jigs, what kind of sanctity of the place you are maintaining." Not to lag behind, the Union health minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad, also took a dig at the BJP's satyagrah and said: "The BJP have no sympathy for Ramdev. …….They are dancing at Rajghat." He wondered " whether it is for celebration or mourning or they dancing for Ramdevji's arrest..."
