Use of brutal force on Ramdev unacceptable in democratic setup : BAJ
6/8/2011 9:28:16 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, June 8: An emergent meeting of the Bar Association Jammu was held under the presidentship of B.S.Slathia today that strongly criticised the use of brutal force on the peaceful agitators led by Baba Ramdev sitting on Dharna in Ramlila Ground Delhi, to protest against the rampant corruption prevailing across the Country and hoarding of Black-Money in foreign Banks.
The Bar Association was unanimous in lodging its protest against gross mishandling of the situation in which peaceful protestors were canecharged in the midnight by police on the instructions of Govt. which was uncalled for and unacceptable in a democratic setup.
Once the senior ministers in the Central Govt., entered in negotiations with Baba Ramdev to evolve a solution to the situation arising from' the Dharna by Baba Ramdev and other likeminded citizens of India recognlsing thereby the importance of the issues raised by Baba Ramdev, there was no justifiable occasion for the Govt. to direct the .mid night swoop by policemen on the peaceful agitators in the Ramlila Ground.
The protest and Dharna organised by Baba Ramdev was against the corruption in the country and to press for bringing back the black money stashed in the foreign Banks and thus was not directed against any particular political organization.
Bar Association Jammu condemns in unequivocal terms the use of draconian force on the peaceful protestors and expects the Central Govt. to rise to the occasion and formulate stringent measures in ensuring a corruption free society which has become the concern for every citizen of India in the given situation..
The meeting was attended amongst others by M.U.Slaria, Vice President; Vikram Sharma, Generai Secretary;.Pariomoksh Seth, Joint Secretary; Sandeepa Sambyal,.Rohan Nanda, President YLA
