Army organizes edu tour for Rajouri, Reasi kids | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, June 8, 2011 Indian Army for the welfare of the locals of insurgency affected areas got a boost by the efforts of 14 Sector Rashtriya Rifles in organising an Education tour for the children of far flung border areas of Rajouri and Reasi District organised by 54 Rashtriya Rifles (MADRAS), under the aegis of Headquarters 14 Sector Rashtriya Rifles / Headquarters Counter Insurgency Force (Uniform). The tour was flagged off by Brigadier RPS Kahlon, Commander 14 Sector Rashtriya Rifles on 07 Jun 2011. Prominent civilian dignitaries to include Mr. Keshav Chourasia, IPS, SSP Reasi, Mr. KC Sharma, SP, Principal PTC and Mr. Mohd Aslam, DSP, Headquarters Reasi were present during the occasion. The guest of honour during interaction with the children asked them to spread the message of peace to the places they visit and also see how our country is developing. The tour being first of its kind in this year will provide the children a brief exposure to the development, quality of life and historical places of interest in other parts of the country. The tour will also instill a sense of awareness and national integration amongst the children of these areas. During the tour, the children will visit Victoria Memorial, Science City, Birla Planetarium, Eden Garden, & Na-Khuda Masjid at Kolkata. After that they will proceed to Siliguri to visit ISCON Temple and Hong Kong Market. From Siliguri they will move to Gangtok and visit Rumtok Monastery, Hanuman & Gaesh Tok. During their visit to Kalimpong they will visit Buddha Cave, Science Centre & Gauripur House (House of Guru Rabindra Nath Tagore). At the end children will visit “Queens of Hills” Darjeeling where they will visit Japanese Temple and enjoy fun ride in Toy Train and Rope way ride. During the visit children will also get a lifetime opportunity to interact with senior Army Officers and Governor of West Bengal. The locals and the parents of these children expressed their gratitude to the Army for giving an opportunity to their children to see other parts of the country which otherwise would not have been possible.
