Govt contemplating to introduce three tier systems in the state: Sham

JAMMU, JUNE 08-Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Mr Sham Lal Sharma today said that newly formed panchayats will immensely help in further boosting development profile in the State.
This was stated by the Minister while chairing the monthly review meeting of development schemes being implemented by various departments in Akhnoor tehsil.
Mr Sham said that the decision of government to hold non-party basis panchayat elections was to give free hand to every one to come forward and seek public confidence for delivery of public services. He said the voters have exercised their rights and completed their part and now the responsibility is on the shoulders of elected Sarpanchs and Panchs to work hard with complete sincerity and dedication towards development of their respective areas.
He said that the India is a democratic country where people of all sections enjoy power. He said that the 73 Act of our constitution provide power to sarpanch and panch, adding that, steps need to be taken for necessary amendment in the act to ensure transfer of maximum powers to panchayat. He said that the government is also contemplating to introduce three tier systems in the state to add new dimensions to the development activities.
Describing education sector as of utmost importance in development of a society, the Minister said that the government has launched a number of reformative education programmes to further improve the literacy rate in the state. He asked the teacher fraternity to focus on imparting quality education to students as they have to shoulder the future responsibilities.
Later, the Minister distributed cheques worth Rs. 6.40 lakh among the beneficiaries under Horticulture Mission.
The Minister also inaugurated 19th HDFC Bank Branch and ATM at Akhnoor.
On the occasion, the Minister said that the government is committed to promote private sector in a big way to boost economy of the State and to generate employment for unemployed youth. In this regard, the banks are playing vital role in providing employment to the local youth by way of providing loan facilities under various employment related schemes.
Among others Director Horticulture, Jammu, Mr Jia Lal Sharma, Chief Horticulture Officer, CMO Jammu, Chief Education Officer Jammu, Sectoral officers of various departments and sarpanch and panch were also present on the occasion.
