As reshuffle date draws near tension grips ministers | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 8: While tension has gripped members of the council of ministers, headed by Omar Abdullah, legislators belonging to the Congress and the National Conference have hopes cabinet berth following reports that cabinet expansion and reshuffle was on the cards in Jammu and Kashmir. Ministers are tense after they have learnt that they may be asked to submit their resignations to the Chief Minister thereby facilitating him to carry out the reshuffle and expansion in consultation with the Congress high command. There are three vacancies in the council of ministers and the Congress leadership claims that out of these three vacant seats two seats are to be filled by the Congress. Reports said that the delay in the cabinet expansion has been the result of Ghulam Nabi Azad's eagerness to see his supporter, G M Saroori, back in the cabinet. Saroori had to quit the cabinet after his daughter was accused in impersonation case in the entrance examination. But party sources said that Azad may not succeed in his mission. One report said that despite the fact that the Congress high command and Omar Abdullah were in favour of allowing those whose performance had been good to retain their ministerial berths the plan is to be modified so that not more than t wo ministers were dropped and given important party assignments. As far as the reshuffle exercise is concerned portfolios of some ministers may be changed without dropping at least those whose importance in the NC and the Congress cannot be underestimated. Another report said that the cabinet expansions and reshuffle in Jammu and Kashmir may be carried out after Manmohan Singh completed expansion and reshuffle un the union cabinet
