Sham Calls for creating mass awareness about prevention of TB | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, JUNE 08-Minister for Health, Mr Sham Lal Sharma today inaugurated renovated District Tuberculosis Centre (DTC) at CD Hospital Jammu completed a total cost of Rs.35 lakh. The newly upgraded Center comprises of one dispensary, MO room, DOT centre, treatment section, laboratories, x-ray room, store, vocational centre and one DTO room. Among others Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Mr Sanjeev Verma, Principal, GMC, Jammu, Dr Rajinder Singh, Director Health, Dr Ashok Sharma, Director NRHM, Dr Yash Paul Sharma, Superintendent Gandhinagar Hospital, Dr Khullar, CMO Jammu, Dr Baldev Raj Sharma and other doctors and paramedical staff were present. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the government has flagged health as priority sector as a result of which health care facilities in the state are fast improving. He said that innovative reforms introduced in the department have led to better delivery of services on the ground, while massive upgradation of health infrastructure was going on side by side. He said most of the district and Sub Divisional hospitals have been provided critical health care infrastructure which has eased rush at the referral hospitals. The Minister also stressed on the need for creating awareness among the people about the prevention of diseases like Tuberculosis and the treatments available in case of infection. He said mass awareness was important to keep check on the contagious diseases. On the occasion, the Minister distributed utensils, clothing and stipend among five orphan girls undergoing vocational training. This centre shall provide all facilities to the TB patients under one roof.
