SRTC employees held a massive protest rally under the banner of All J&K SRTC Employees Federation in front of its Regional Head Quarter at Rail Head Complex demanding the payment of their salary pending for three months (May, June and July). S.Amreek Singh Sasan Chairman SRTC Employees Federation, Ashok Mehra President and Pawan Sharma General Secretary expressed their resentment over the ill functioning of SRTC Management. They allegedly lamented the State Govt. for its failure to keep its promise by not fulfilling the demands of SRTC employees. They revealed that the Deputy Chief Minister who held a Board Of Directors meeting of PSU’s by announcing that the salaries of PSU’s would be paid within in a week’s time but so far nothing has been done. S. Balbinder Singh President Conductor Association and S. Mohan Singh President Tourist and District Fleet alleged that “There is a sharp decline in the inflow of tourists in the state especially after the Mumbai Blasts. As a result, the tourists are heading for Himachal Pardesh which has an adverse effect on our business as the whole business of SRTC is depend upon the tourists. Despite all this, no body has come forward to encourage us.” They replied. Others who addressed the gathering were S. Paramjeet Singh, Ashok Singh, S. Manjeet Singh, Rajinder Sawhney, Paras Ram President Passenger Fleet, Surinder Singh General Secretary, S.Barkat Singh President Tourist and District Fleet and Vinod Sharma.
