Involvement of some police officers also surfaced | Ex MLC TS Wazir, his brother Ajab Singh, son of senior cong leader among four arrested | | SUMIT SHARMA JAMMU, June 9: The skeletons have finally started to roll down from cupboard in the much publicised Raju Chopra murder case with the arrest of senior National Conference leader and former MLC Trilochan Singh Wazir and two others for allegedly hatching a conspiracy to eliminate cement tycoon, Chopra. The Special Investigation Team (SIT), constituted to probe the blind murder of Raju Chopra, his wife, daughter and domestic help by some unknown assailants on the night of September 17, 2006, today arrested T S Wazir, his brother Ajab Singh and Raju Simbliya.
The SIT action came in the wake of a statement of one Surinder Singh alias Kala in court alleging that a group of five persons including Trilochan Singh Wazir, his brother Ajab Singh, Nagar Choudhary, Raju Simbliya and Sanjay Sharma hatched conspiracy to kill Raju Bhushan Chopra.
According to well placed sources Kala was once a close associate of former MLC and now a close aide of a cabinet minister in the coalition government.
A police team comprised of SDPO Narwal Mukesh Kakkar conducted simultaneous raids at Gandhi Nagar based residence of Trilochan Singh Wazir as well as his brother Ajab Singh’ house and arrested them.
A series of raids was also conducted at Bahu Plaza based office of Raju Simbliya where he was arrested.
The trio at present is lodged with Channi Himmat police station where their sustained questioning was in progress to reach the depth of the case. “The police would ascertain how much money was given to the killer as supari and who was hired to kill them,” the police sources said.
Surinder Singh alias Kala recorded his statement under section 164-A Cr PC before the Judicial Magistrate in which he disclosed that in month of August 2006 Tirlochan Singh Wazir alias Tallo asked him to meet him at his residence at Gandhi Nagar. Surinder Singh disclosed that next day he went to the house of Tirlochan Singh Wazir at that time four other persons were also there.
He identified them as Ajab Singh brother of Tirlochan Singh, Choudhary Nagar Singh, Sanjay Sharma and Raju Simblia. These peoples were discussing about the loading and unloading of cement and Ajab Singh said that Raju Bushan Chopra created problems for them for loading and unloading of cements. Upon this Trilochan Singh asked Nagar Singh if Chopra was creating problem in loading & unloading cement, even also Chopra created problem in FCI Work. Trilochan Singh and others asked Sanjay Sharma to kill the Chopra and his whole family and asked money was no matter. Ajab Singh and Nagar Singh told that they would spend any amount but their names should not be disclosed any where. Surinder further alleged that he left the house of Trilochan Singh Wazir as there was serious conspiracy being hatched and after some days he came to know that RB Chopra, his wife, his daughter and two servants killed.
Police sources informed that Surinder Singh was once a right hand of Trilochan Singh Wazir, it was on 29 January Surinder being a prime witness in Narwal double murder case recorded his statement against eight persons who are stated to be close of Ajab Singh and TS Wazir. On Surinder’s statement Ajit Singh alias Kaka, Paramjeet Singh alias Pummy and Jatinder Singh Milkha Singh and Ajit Kumar, the Court framed charges under sections 302, 120-B and 148/149 of RPC against them. Charges were prima-facie framed against Ranjodh Singh alias Nalwa, Narinder Singh and Ajmer Singh alias Vicky for commission of offences under sections 302 and 120-B of RPC. Against Jeet Singh, proceedings were initiated under section 512 CrPC. All the eight accused were arrested in the murder of Gurnam Singh and his maternal uncle Rajinder Singh at Narwal Mandi on 5th Feb, 2010.
His statement became a bone of contention between Wazir and Surinder, after that Surinder joined rival group of Wazir and became right hand of a minister.
Sources said earlier, Wazir lodged a complaint to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah when he realized that his phone calls were being tapped without taking permission of speaker or home minister. Reacting over the complaint CM asked for explanation. It was after brief to the CM, it was probably the reason that Wazir was not given mandate from NC side in the MLC election held recently, experts viewed.
Sources further revealed that involvement of some police officers can not be ruled out and their role is also thoroughly investigated.
When last reports came in raids, in late hours were going on .Sources said police has lifted a ‘high profile ‘, cement dealer who is a son of senior congress leader of a political party and high ranking police officer for questioning, besides these, police have also lifted two officers upto the rank of DYSP for questioning
