| 7 cases settled in the Lok Adalat | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, June 10
A Lok Adalat was held in the District Court Complex Udhampur under the Chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge, A K Sharma who is also the Chairman of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Udhampur.
Three benches were constituted to deal and settled the cases referred to the Lok Adalat by different courts of Udhampur. First bench comprising Principal District and Sessions Judge, Udhmapur and Additional District and Sessions Judge Udhampur, Ms Nighat Sultana was constituted to deal with MACT cases and matrimonial cases, While second bench comprising Chief Judicial Magistrate Udhampur, M K Sharma and Munsiff JMIC, Anoop Sharma was constituted to deal with civil and criminal matters referred by the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate and other Judicial Magistrate at Udhampur.
The third bench comprising DMM (Traffic), Udhampur Khem Raj Sharma and
Advocate Sumati Sharma was constituted to deal with the traffic challans. Total 23 cases were taken up in the Lok Adalat by the three benches out of which seven MACT cases were settled and amount of Rs 8, 80,000 was given as compensation in MACT cases.
Chairman DLSA, Udhampur appreciated the pragmatic approach of the Bar and litigant public in settlement of the cases.
