Gross irregularities reported in the construction of school buildings
6/10/2011 9:06:18 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jmmu, June 10:A meeting of All J&K Movement for Peace and Justice was held at Joura under the chairmanship of Anil Kumar, chairman AJKMPJ, Thathri Block.
In the meeting it was appealed to the vigilance commissioner and the concerned authorities to conduct second inquiry by a special team, as some gross irregularities committed in the construction of school buildings of Boys Middle School Joura Kalan and that of Middle School Kunthal (ST Population) were reported.
These buildings have been built in a very defective way and also defective material has been used. There is every possibility that they may collapse any time during the rainy season.
The GI sheets of Boys middle school Joura Kalan have already got blown off by a slight wind storm and the children had a narrow escape by the grace of God.
The inquiry which was got initiated through vigilance commissioner regarding the misappropriation of government funds in the construction of school buildings of Boys middle school Joura Kalan and that of Middle School Kuntha (ST population) has got hushed up by political pressure.
The concerned ZEO Bhatyas had found on inquiry that there was real embezzlement & he had pressured the concerned people including the JE to reconstruct these buildings out of embezzled money & they had agreed.
Simultaneously they approached a political heavy weight who instead of appreciating the ZEO rebuked him saying that in the strong wind GI sheets of many other schools also got blown down which must be re-fixed by allotting new funds.
The approach of the political figure is ludicrous as there was no strong wind storm & that the GI sheets of no other buildings have got blown down.
This is shameful that a responsible political person should shield the corrupt people harming the public in general and the students’ community in particular.
The public of Joura and Kunthal villages request the vigilance commissioner and the concerned authorities to send a special team for inquiry & redress the genuine grievances of the people and bring the culprits to book.
Moreover immediate renovation of the defectively built buildings be ordered so that risk to the life of the children is eliminated.
The members present in the meeting include Ashok Kumar ( president) Block Thathri, Subash Chander (general secretary), Surjeet Singh (secretary),Kulwant Singh(member).
