J&K all set to host All India Junior National Wrestling Championship | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 10: The J&K State is all set to host All India 30th Junior National Wrestling Championship (male) and 13th Junior National Championship (female) which is commencing on June 17. Around 600 wrestlers in the age group of 18 to 20 years and more than 200 officials, coaches, referees, judges and technicians besides wrestlers from 28 states including Army, BSF, Railway and other sports institutions are expected to participate in the championship. Union Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs, Ajay Maken will inaugurate the tournament while Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, is expected to grace the occasion as chief guest on the eve of closing ceremony of the championship. World Champion and Olympian (Bronze Medalist), Sushil Kumar is also arriving here in winter capital for the said championship to boost morale of the budding participants. The Association has expressed gratitude to the state government, J&K State Council Minister for Youth Services & Sports, R S Chib, for taking keen interest in promoting sports talent of state.It is worthwhile to mention here that it is due to the efforts of J&K Wrestling Association under the Presidentship of Director General of Police Mr Kuldeep Khoda and President of Wrestling Federation of India, first person from the state to be elected for such a big post, Dushyant Sharma (Gold Medallist & Inter-National Wreslters) that national level championship is being organized in the J&K State. Earlier, the J&K Wrestling Association conducted Junior National Championship at Srinagar. The championship will be held in two shifts i.e morning from 8 am to 1.30 p m and evening 4 p m to 8 p m.
