Two get 3-year sentence for theft Maida, Ghee | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, June 10: Two persons were sentenced to three years imprisonment and fined Rs 1500 each for breaking one bakery shop and taking two sacks of Maida and 22 kilograms of ghee from there. Chief Judicial Magistrate Udhampur Mohinder Kumar Sharma has convicted and sentenced Ved Parkash son of Krishan Lal resident of village Satani Udhampur and Mangat Ram son of Shiv Ram resident of Village Barmeen Ramnagar to undergo three years imprisonment, and fine of fifteen hundred to each who are facing trial for the last ten years for allegedly committing offence under section 457/380 RPC. According to reports, convicting both the accused for commission of offence punishable under section 457/380 RPC, court said that accused had undergone a prolonged trial, so a lenient view is taken while sentencing the accused. The accused are sentenced to rigorous imprisonment of one year and fine of rupees 500 each for the commission of theft in dwelling house punishable under section 380 RPC and rigorous imprisonment for two years and fine of Rs 1000 each for housebreaking to commit theft under section 457 RPC. Judgment further said that in case of default in payment of fine the convicts shall undergo further imprisonment of 10 days each. However, both the sentences shall run concurrently. According to the prosecution story, on December 28, 29, 1999 both the accused after breaking open the locks of a local Bakery shop of one Romesh Chander near Slathia Chowk in Udhampur took away two sacks of Maida weighing 170 kilogram and 22 kilogram of vanaspati from their after which an FIR was registered by local police who later produced challan in the court against both the accused. |
