| LeT area commander including 2 militants killed in Doda | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
jammu, June 10: The security forces today gunned down two terrorists belonging to Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terror outfit during an encounter in Wanipora forest area of Doda.
"Acting on tip-off, a joint column of Rashtriya Rifles and police launched a search operation in Sazan area and killed two LeT militants after a brief encounter," police sources said.
The slain militants have been identified as Javed Ahmad Malik alias Abu Hurara, an area commander of LeT and 'A'- category militant, son of Gul Mohd resident of village Kashryan, and Akhtar Hussain alias Mubbasir son of Abdul Rehmaan resident of village Zehand. The security forces also recovered two rifles from the site.
With the elimination of two dreaded militants, the terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba has suffered a major jolt in mountainous district of Doda, sources said
SP Operations, Doda, Mohan Lal said that two LeT militants were eliminated after police made a contact with them at Wanipora.
After getting inputs that movement of some militants has been observed in the forest area, security forces launched a search operation in the woods of Wanipora Sazan, police official said, adding the militants fired on the security personnel.
In the retaliatory gunfire, the troops killed the two militants on the spot.
Both the militants were in the hit list of police since they made their appearance in 2008.
Police recovered arms and ammunition including one AK 47 with loaded magazine , one 3.3 rifle with magazine and some rounds from the possession of the duo.
Both the terrorists, police sources, said were involved in number of terrorist related cases in the district Doda as well as in district Kishtwar. Terrorist Javed Ahmed Malik was booked in various criminal activities which including FIR No. 310 of 2010 under section 458/323/34/ RPC dated 06.11.2010 of police station Doda, case FIR No. 248/2010 under section 302 RPC , 7/27 Arms Act in police station Kishtwar, case FIR No. 20/2011 under section 3/4/5 ESA, 7/25 Arms Act, 212/216 RPC in police station Doda. While terrorist Akhter Hussain code Mubasher was involved in case FIR No. 20/2011 U/S 3/4/5 ESA, 7/25 Arms Act , 212/216 RPC in police station Doda. Both the terrorists used to shuttle in Bharat, Gundna, Ganithy, Kashryan Sazan, Dessa, Gadan, Wanipura areas of District Doda and Keshwan area of District Kishtwar. |
